The game is well conceived and the mix between Wild West and Vampire is unique. Kill festĪll in all, Nightwatch was captivating and good fun. There is also lots of extra content to be unlocked, including concept art movies, movies and gunslinger mode, which allows you to replay chapters.

Two players can play Nightwatch in cooperative mode, or face up against one another in versus mode. Just remember that, being a vampire, all of your powers are negated in direct sunlight. You also acquire more powers as you become more vampire and less human. But whatever the state of your soul, you will collect energy from the Blood Clouds which emerge after you have killed. You can track the progress of your soul by checking the Spirit Bar, which when full will award you with a power. Just point and shoot, and watch as vampires explode.īased on your choices, your soul will become increasingly good or evil. My personal favourite was the Dual Crossbow, which Jericho armed with Holy Water. To defeat the hordes of enemies which target you, you are satisfyingly armed with an array of weaponry to aid your vampire killing spree, all named suitably of course: Redeemer Revolver, Warmaker pistols, Blackfish carbine, Carson Range Rifle, Argus Shotgun, Rail Rocket the list is endless. The enemies, being vampires, mostly require pretty accurate head shots to finish them off, and I often found that a well-aimed butt with the weapon was very effective and particularly useful if you have run out of ammo.

This can be particularly challenging to achieve while riding a horse! Fortunately, learning Jericho's nifty vampire skills are relatively easy. It takes some getting used to learning how to accurately move with the left analogue stick, aim with the right analogue stick and shoot with R1. Being set in the Wild West, and our hero being a cowboy, the sound of his spurs as you move onwards in your quest to save the West are sometimes the only comfort that you have.Ĭontrolling Jericho is quite difficult at first, and I would say the learning curve is steep depending of your prior dual analogue stick experience. As you battle your way through crypts and graveyards, you stumble across vampires feeding on corpses and, with the buzzing of flies in your ears, you must defeat them to progress in the game. Firstly I would say straight up that this game is not for the faint hearted.
